Pacifica Garden Farm
'Growing Healthy Schools' Program
Rio Vista Elementary School
The Pacifica Garden Farm, Granjita Pacifica, grows a living laboratory of local regenerative agriculture, habitat restoration, and cultural renewal in the heart of Bay Point. Students, teachers, and community observe and interact with a wide array of edible and ecologically functional species growing in verdant polycultures offering year round fruit, year round flowers, and year round multi sensory wonder. The walkable margins of the food forest offer resting spots, outdoor classrooms, and educational stations, to learn, experience, and celebrate our part of a healthy resilient ecosystem. An array of permanent organic garden beds at its center, mimicking a forest clearing, produces greens for the community, and to be served at the school cafeteria, which in turn sends back its compostables to feed the rich soils of the food forest. The Pacifica Garden Farm restores habitat, and makes the world more healthy and beautiful as it nourishes, delights, and educates our community.
